EP:339 | Bonus: Do You Really Know Your Bucks Age?

Mossy Oak

This week we are joined by Arthur Stephens and Carolyn Nistler of Matson Lab in Montana. Many of us have tried to age deer the old-fashioned way using jawbones, and some believe we can judge a buck’s age on the hoof. But once they get past five or six years old, it becomes difficult to know for sure. These really old deer can be especially challenging. Recently, some teenage does have been harvested, and there’s only one way to know their true age. When you really want to be certain, there's a proven scientific technique called cementum aging that is remarkably accurate. We get the lowdown. Listen, Learn, and Enjoy.
